The AidData portal is currently in BETA. This means that you may find errors or issues in either the software that drives our portal or the underlying development finance data itself. As Wikipedia explains, a beta period of a software product is to enable software developers to get feedback from users on the functionality, stability, and/or usability of a given product:
"Beta" is a nickname for software which has passed the alpha testing stage of development and has been released to users for software testing before its official release. It is the prototype of the software that is released to the public. Beta testing allows the software to undergo usability testing with users who provide feedback, so that any malfunctions these users find in the software can be reported to the developers and fixed.
We have done significant software and data checks on AidData using a small group of development finance researchers and practitioners. In that process we discovered that the best way to find and fix errors in software and/or data is to allow more and more users to access the data. In that spirit, we present you with this BETA version of the AidData portal.
Your input is critical to improving our website and our data. Please provide send your comments, complaints, or feedback on either the portal or the data to info@aiddata.org.
