Research Assistant: Europe & Eurasia Media Systems

AidData is looking to hire research assistants this Summer 2022 to work on a project investigating foreign influence in media systems of Europe & Eurasia (E&E). Research Assistants will play a key role in assisting AidData’s E&E team in compiling research on the sentiment of E&E media content. Research Assistants will learn novel research methods, utilize foreign language skills, and assist in various facets of data collection.

Students from all backgrounds and all schools are welcome to apply. We are particularly keen on hiring students with Russian language skills, though we welcome all candidates interested in the position. Applications close May 20, with interviews conducted on a rolling basis. Starting pay is $10/hour. Research assistants are expected to work anywhere from 20-30 hours per week over the summer, with a start date in early June.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist AidData with data collection
  • Hand code sentiment of Europe & Eurasian media content (Russian or English)
  • Data collection and online research

Skills:

  • Proficiency in G Suite applications
  • Ability to work remotely in a team environment
  • Ability to think critically and constructively
  • Document work and decisions made while data collecting/other tasks
  • Foreign language a plus (specifically Russian, or regional language in Eastern Europe and/or Eurasia)
