Research Assistant: Europe & Eurasia Media Systems

AidData is looking to hire research assistants this spring 2021 to work on a series of projects investigating foreign influence in media systems of Europe & Eurasia. Research Assistants will play a key role in compiling research on Russian media footprints in the region, top domestic media outlets, and owners of those outlets in former Soviet and Yugoslavian states. Research Assistants will learn novel research methods, utilize foreign language skills, and assist in various facets of data collection.

Students from all backgrounds and all schools are welcome to apply. Applications close February 28, with interviews conducted on a rolling basis. Starting pay is $8/hour, with the opportunity for pay increases up to $10/hour. Research Assistants are expected to work from 10-20 hours per week starting in mid to late March. This internship will be remote.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist AidData with data collection
  • Data collection and online research 

Skills:

  • Proficiency in G Suite applications
  • Ability to work remotely in a team environment
  • Ability to think critically and constructively
  • Document work and decisions made while data collecting/other tasks
  • Foreign language a plus (specifically Russian, or regional language in Eastern Europe and/or Eurasia)
