Specialized Program Manager (SDI)

AidData is currently seeking qualified applicants for a Specialized Program Manager, based in Williamsburg, VA. The position will lead a wide variety of projects in AidData's Sustainable Development Intelligence (SDI) program, and offers a unique opportunity to work on cutting edge research with major policy stakeholders in the focus sectors of Global Health, International Education, and/or Extractive Industries. Position will be responsible for leading and managing engagements with a multitude of stakeholders/partners engaged on a project, overseeing implementation of programs on the ground across multiple partners, supervising internal team to implement projects on the ground and will provide support on preparing research proposals, design, implementation and monitoring, data management, report writing and dissemination and policy outreach. Final hire for this position contingent upon project approval and available funds.

This position is located at the William & Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia. This is a full-time position, and salary is commensurate with experience in the U08 range (see Salary Structure for University Employees).

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in economics, social sciences, public policy, or related field
  • Specialized skill in Global Health, International Education, or Extractives Sector
  • Excellent management and organizational skills along with strong quantitative skills
  • Fluency and excellent communication skills in English
  • Flexible, self-motivating, detail-oriented, able to manage multiple tasks efficiently, a team player
  • Demonstrated ability to manage high-level relationships with partner organizations
  • Ability to work independently and in field locations

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in economics, social sciences, public policy, or related field
  • Experience conducting research on global health, international education, and/or natural resource concessions; familiarity with contemporary issues, major actors, etc.
  • Willingness to travel abroad, at times on short notice
  • Previous knowledge of or desire to learn local languages
  • Previous experience leading international development research in a project and client management capacity preferred.
  • Knowledge of Stata, R, ArcGIS, QGIS or other data analysis software is strongly preferred
