TUFF Internship Fall 2026

Research Assistants will play a key role in assembling the world's most comprehensive dataset on Chinese official financial flows. Your work will assist policymakers at partner institutions to better understand the scale and scope of development and commercial finance from nontraditional donors.

Work will include but is not limited to: identifying new Chinese financing, scraping government documents, and synthesizing information according to specific methodological standards.

Training will be conducted beginning September 21, the position start date.  

Only current William and Mary Undergraduate or Graduate students from all academic backgrounds are welcome to apply to the internship. Proficiency in foreign languages is a plus, especially in Chinese, Spanish, French, and Arabic. The best TUFF Research Assistants are those with solid writing skills, strong time management, and the ability to extract key information from a wide variety of sources.

Research Assistants (RAs) are required to work for 10 hours per week during the Fall term. The starting pay rate is $13 per hour. Experienced RAs are eligible for promotions and corresponding pay increases up to $16/hr. All interns must be based in the U.S. to be hired.
