Research Assistants: Policy Analysis Unit Project Teams

The Policy Analysis Unit at AidData is hiring Research Assistants for Fall 2021. Research Assistants will play a key role in compiling research, collecting data, and conducting quality assurance checks. Research Assistants will learn novel research methods, utilize foreign language skills, and assist in various facets of data collection.

The Policy Analysis Unit is currently hiring Research Assistants to join the following projects:

  • China Soft Power Indicators: The China Soft Power Project at AidData is hiring research assistants to assemble a first of its kind dataset on the Chinese government's Soft Power activities (e.g. Elite visits, inbound/outbound student flows, technical assistance programs) globally. The resulting data will assist policymakers in better understanding the scale and scope of China's Soft Power activities.
  • Europe & Eurasia Media: AidData is looking to hire research assistants this fall to work on a series of media research projects assessing various indications of foreign influence in Europe & Eurasia. Research Assistants will play a key role in compiling research on the media landscape, media resilience to malign influence, and sentiment analysis of top outlets in seventeen former Soviet and Yugoslavian states.
  • Listening to Leaders: The Listening to Leaders team at AidData is now accepting applications for Fall 2021 internships. AidData's Listening to Leaders program collects 360 degree feedback on development priorities, progress, and performance from the perspective of leaders in low- and middle-income countries. We research convergence and divergence in priorities; barriers and opportunities to advance reforms; performance of development partners; and evidence-informed policymaking. Check out our program page for past reports and datasets. Students with Arabic and Russian language skills preferred.

For all projects, students who can demonstrate a strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and motivation are encouraged to apply. Students from all backgrounds and schools are welcome to apply. Starting pay is $9.50/hour; experienced RAs are eligible for pay increases up to $12/hour.
