Energy Security in Europe and Eurasia

insights into the strengths and weakness of energy policies, governance, supply, and infrastructure

Energy Security

AidData created an index that tracks energy security trends to help policymakers target their assistance and monitor results over time (2009-2020). It accounts for nuances of energy security within countries, while facilitating comparability across the region. The index monitors 100+ individual distinct variables, feeding up into 22 components and five barometers of energy security. In addition to producing an overall measure of energy security, the index breaks this concept down into its constituent parts—Met Need for Energy (MNE), Energy Supply, Energy Risk, Energy Resilience, and Country Characteristics The ultimate objective is to bolster energy security by improving how areas of opportunity can be diagnosed in specific countries and across the region.
